I really do love how little boys think!
Here is Brinley directing traffic. As you can see there are a lot of confused people at the park so his services were greatly appreciated.
Rowan (the sweet little boy who is scared of lots of things) thought he heard a frog... or a snake... or a squirrel ...or a monster so he hopped up on the bridge to make sure his ankles weren't dinner, Brinley of course followed orders.
After they found that they were safe (and that the wind was what made Rowan jump) they decided it was safe to run and play freely once again.
Yep, Rowan is as sweet as he looks, always helping and watching out for Brinley... even though on most occasions Brinley throws a sharp and dense object at Rowan's head. It is a shock that Brinley hasn't sent Rowan to the ER yet (knock on wood!)
Casually watching the blue jay that Rowan spotted in the cottontails. He is so handsome.
I was talking about Rowan, not the bird. Ok I suppose the bird was handsome too.
Brinley trying to go on an adventure but he kept tripping and falling, those chubby legs seem to be getting heavier and heavier to lift these days.
I thought that he was picking these for me... but he wasn't. He was picking them because he wanted to see how high he could throw them. DUH, MOMMY! -Rowan's words not mine.
Just taking a moment to reminisce about the 2 deer we spotted on our way to the park. As soon as I said, I thought they lived in that forest behind us, Rowan decided it was time to go. I guess he was worried that the snake... or frog ...or squirrel may have been a deer spying on us through the trees :)

a day at the pumpkin patch
So many new things going on with my boys and I feel like I am falling behind on trying to keep it all written down so I don't forget the wonderful stages we are going through. I feel like the memories are slipping away so fast. I hope I can remember all the little things that were special to us at this point in our lives...
Rowan is acting like a kid instead of a little boy, it is so hard for me to grasp. He is becoming very independent and really tries to be in charge of things these days. He is a lot happier when he is assigned a task. He is also really started to put things together on his own which means he is asking fewer questions... but none-the-less he is still very eager to learn new things. My favorite thing that he has become more aware of is God! It is so precious to hear him verbally talk about God on his own and tell us things that God made and why. He loves bible stories and he is starting to really think deeper about them now that he is older, I am so enchanted by Rowan's wonder and seeing God through his eyes has really given me a new love for Him! Rowan certainly doesn't stop teaching me! I just can't believe my little boy is about to turn 5!!
It seems Brinley thinks he is almost 5, as well. Yes, this makes for some very feisty behavior from this strong-willed little boy! There isn't anything that Brinley won't try to do. He is not intimidated by discipline in the least! Brinley has a strange confidence about him, he is very bold and definitely takes his own lead. The fact that he is not frightened by much frightens me! Brinley makes us all laugh constantly, he loves to entertain and he certainly doesn't follow the norm. I love that about him. He really looks up to his big brother though. He loves when they are doing a task together. He is also not pushed around by Rowan, Brinley is actually the one I would bet on if the 2 were in a fight. He doesn't back down easily. They definitely bug each other but they also play together a lot more. Rowan loves teaching Brinley new things and he laughs when Brinley tries to say complicated words. It is fun to watch them slowly become friends, and I know that they will balance each other out one day!

TEA PARTY || just a reason to be fancy
One day if I ever have a girl, these will be the things I look forward to. My beautiful little nieces are always playing dress up and digging in my mom's closet. I was one of those girls who was guilty of playing dress up long after I was too old for those sorts of things. Recently my love for dressing up was revived when I bought a fur coat, it made me feel silly again. Like I had dug into the back of my mother's closet and stolen it or something. I just had to create a way to play make-believe again {the girl way}. I play plenty of make-believe at home but being cat woman time after time just is not the same. Sure sometimes I feel sorry for myself that I don't have a little girl to buy tutus for, but I can be thankful for the fact that Rowan actually invited himself to this tea party(he hates feeling left out). Though, his attendance didn't last long he was still willing to wear a tie and sip some tea for a short time. It was such a wonderful time and we were really grateful that we chose Iced Tea considering it was 96 degrees outside, the girls even made me sip with my pinky out like a proper lady. Looks like Etiquette classes may be in my near future!
